In order to live a long and satisfying life it is important we keep ourselves healthy and fit.
It is difficult nowadays to be healthy and fit with the long hours we are working, the unhealthy temptations that are being bestowed upon us and the stress that we are exposed to. Marketing and exposure to unhealthy temptations are currently out of control. We find that we cannot go to a shopping center nowadays without finding a candy store. On television, magazines, internet, everywhere you are exposed to sweets. This is to illustrate that we are surrounded by sweet temptations. Actually this is the bad type of snacks, because the only thing it does is increase our calorie consumption. It may give a quick rush of energy, but that energy will fade quickly away as well.
What I find even more horrible now, is that many departments at work might have a candy jar around. This jar is actually filled up frequently by colleagues. So it is even more accessible now to consume sweets the entire day, and some people does consume them the whole day. This has become a bad habit and is affecting our health.
In addition to sweets we also have greasy snacks that are available everywhere. They may taste good, but again they are full of calories and fat. Every now and then you will get a treat from a colleague celebrating their birthday, but most of the time it will be a deep-fried treat.
Instead of handing out the above mentioned unhealthy snacks, I wish to suggest some healthy bites that might be more expensive but that will do the body good. You can actually prepare them yourself, or you can ask someone who is very good (or like to be) in the kitchen to make them for you as well.
