Berries are full of antioxidants and fiber that is why they are your friend when it comes to detoxing. Common examples of the berries family are strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries (not the phone :-)), red- and blackcurrant. They’re just the thing your body needs to replenish itself and to help purge toxins from its various systems. Strawberries and blueberries are the antioxidant powerhouse, and raspberries and blackberries are more than just powerful antioxidants. They are also extremely high in some of the highest forms of chronic disease, cancer-fighting compounds and age-related decline: they consist of vitamins C, E, quercetin-, gallic- and ellagic acid. Besides berries we also adding Ginger to this powerhouse of smoothie. If you didn't know, ginger is also considered one of the best detoxifying herbs, frequently recommended in cleansing programs and detox diets. We used all four berries and ginger here to make sure it’s a detox winner.
Last but not least we added some Maca powder to enhance your energy, stamina, athletic performance, memory, and fertility. What fertility??? Yes that! Bye bye oyster soup. Have a glass of Berries Mélange Smoothie and you are ready to go.
What You Need
- 1 1/2 cups Berries mix (Strawberries, Blueberries, Raspberries and Blackberries)
- 1/8 cup shredded Ginger
- 1 cup Almond Milk
- 1 tsp of Maca Powder
- 25 kernel of Pine Nuts (optional)
- a stripe of Honey (optional)
- 1 /2 of ice (optional)
This recipe serves about 2 people.
Instructions:
- Shred ginger before blending.
- Blend everything together until you reach a smoothie consistency.
- You can add ice in case you want it to be thicker and cold. My preference is to leave the ice out of the smoothie.
- Pour smoothie in your favorite glass and put some pine nuts on top for garnish. You can also add just a stripe of honey in case you want it a bit sweeter.
