Our inspiration for this smoothie came from, you guest it, Piña Colada. Well we decided to give this a healthy spin and include some ingredients that will give you plenty of antioxidants, minerals, fiber, omega 3 & 6, protein and vitamins. By blending fresh pineapple with coconut water, the pineapple will keep all of its dietary fiber content, making it even healthier. Flaxseed and Hemp seed will give this smoothie plenty of omega-3 fatty acids plus add an extra boost to it dietary fiber content. The coconut water will include the electrolytes calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, sodium and potassium, but in their natural form.
What do you need?
- 1 1/2 cup Pineapple
- 1 1/2 cup Coconut water
- 1/2 cup Almond Milk
- 4 Basil leaves
- 1/4 cup Honey
- 1 tbsp Flaxseed
- 1 tsp shredded Coconut
- 1 tsp Hemp seed
- 1 cup ice (optional)
This recipe serves about 2 people.
Instructions: Clean pineapple and cut it in cubes. Put the pineapple in an bowl, add the honey, and let it overnight in the fridge. Next morning blend the pineapple, coconut water, almond milk, basil leaves and flaxseed together until you reach a smoothie consistency. Pour the smoothie in your favorite glass and add a pinch of shredded coconut and hemp seed to garnish.
You can add ice in case you want it to be thicker and cold.
